OREANDA-NEWS. January 12, 2010. Ingosstrakh has paid out more than 2.4 million rubles to Omela farm for the partial loss of future potato harvest. In May 2009, the planted areas (500 hectares in total) in Shchebekinsky District, the Tula Region, were insured by the Tula branch of Ingosstrakh OJSIC. The total insured amount exceeded 23.1 million rubles.

The insured property was the subject of charge to the Tula branch office of Russian Agricultural Bank under the granted credit facility.

In summer 2009, the drought resulted in potato crop failure within the entire area. The expert examination was carried out to assess the extent of the damage. The event was recognised to be the insured event, and in December 2009 Ingosstrakh paid the insurance indemnity to the farm in full.

According to the head of the farm Lidiya Gubar, the insurance compensation was paid in due time which allowed the farm to perform its obligations to the bank. Further on, Omela farm intends to enter into agreements with Ingosstrakh for insurance of future harvest, inventories, agricultural equipment and motor vehicles. The choice of the insurer is based on the fact that Ingosstrakh has proved to be a company that always performs its obligations to the clients.

Omela farm was established in 1993 and, currently, is one of the largest potato farms in the region. Ingosstrakh OJSIC has cooperated with the farm since 2006, providing the insurance of agricultural equipment (including towed equipment) and machinery as well as stored agricultural products.
