OREANDA-NEWS. January 13, 2010. Severe cold in Primorye and other regions of the Far East and Siberia, a gateway for Vostokbunker-bound oil laden trains has caused failures in loading and discharging operations, the press service of the company said. The oil products as well as rail tank cars arrive almost frozen at the Terminal.

Therefore, the company on January 2 announced trough measures, switching to round-the-clock-operation for discharge brigades. Besides, the authorities set up 12 additional devices for heating fuel in the tanks, using steam pipe lines to heat diesel outlets.

The above mentioned steps allowed continuing discharge operations on tank cars in accordance with schedule. However, the company said, the delays still persist as the heating operation takes at least up to four hours.

In this regard, Vostokbunker has appealed as well to the shippers, as to RZD (Russian Railways) authorities to undertake joint efforts to prevent freezing of fuel tank cars and discharge.

Vostokbunker owns the third largest marine oil terminal in Primorsky Krai (Territory). Its annual capacity allows through 40% of liquid fuel, further sent to the northern regions of the Far East under the government order. The administrations of Magadan Kamchatka regions are listed among consumers of Vostokbunker. The company produces its own "VB"-brand ship fuel, as well as certified naval fuel F-5.
