OREANDA-NEWS. January 15, 2010. Rietumu is among the first banks in Latvia subscribing to the voluntary European Code of Conduct on pre-contractual information for home loans (“Code”), reported the press-centre of Rietumu bank.

Rietumu has always adhered to the conservative lending approach, paying special attention to informing customers about all details and terms of home loans. Thus, subscribing to the Code has been a logical step in realizing our lending policy.

The Code’s core objective is to improve and standardise consumer information and help prospective borrowers choose the mortgage loan best suited to their needs.

Adherence to the Code commits banks to disclose to the consumer certain essential pieces of information, inter alia, purpose of loan, types of surety arrangements, interest conditions, typical home loan costs and related cost elements, withdrawal period, requirements of appraisal etc.

In line with the Code, Rietumu provides its customers, intending to conclude loan agreement, with general information regarding home loans. Moreover, as previously every customer may receive the required information concerning home loans having arranged a meeting with personal lending specialist.

The full text of the Code is placed on our webpage as well as available for customers at our headquarters Rietumu Capital Centre.
