OREANDA-NEWS. January 15, 2010. Reshetnev ISS experts commence manufacturing of new relay satellite Loutch-5A.

Currently, ISS is in process completing designs documentation and ground experimental tests of the satellite. The onboard equipment is developed by cooperatives, details and units are produced at ISS.

ISS’ prime contractor in the project is Thales Alenia Space responsible for payload module equipment delivery. The module is to be assembled and integrated with the satellite platform by Reshetnev ISS.

Loutch-5A, together with Loutch-5B and Loutch-4, is to become a integral part of the Loutch multifunctional relay space system. ISS will introduce a set of innovative technologies in the company, while producing these satellites. For example, cell panels with embedded thermal pipes will lay the basis for platform structure and payload module. New technologies are to be applied in the satellite antennae, which will use unique RF-reflecting cell bed; reflectors will be made of special carbon-filled plastic.

Loutch-5A production is to be completed in 2010.
