OREANDA-NEWS. January 18, 2010. The 21st anniversary of twin-city relations between Nakhodka and American city Bellingham was marked on the weekend. The agreement on friendship was signed by the heads of both cities Viktor GNEZDILOV (Nakhodka) and Timoti DUGLAS (Bellingham) on January, 17, 1989.


"The establishment of friendly relations between both cities will be a significant contribution into the mutual understanding and world cooperation as well as the development of relations between the USSR and the USA in different spheres of economy", - such words are written in the agreement of January, 17, 1989, which was signed by the chairman of the Nakhodka City Executive Committee Viktor GNEZDILOV and the Mayor of Bellingham Timoti DUGLAS.

Both cities often exchanged delegations during the years of mutual cooperation. Representatives of local authorities, employees of museums and libraries of Nakhodka shared experience with their colleagues. Moreover, sport exchanges between yacht clubs "Antares" and "Chetyre vetra (Four winds) " took place as well. At present, Rotary-clubs of Nakhodka and Bellingham cooperate closely with each other.

Another joint project between both cities, which is currently under implementation, is the creation of consulting center for young specialists and entrepreneurs under Nakhodka Institute of Technology and Business.
