OREANDA-NEWS. January 18, 2010. The Russian paper Expert published the Russian H&H Webranking result. Russian companies are still behind its neighbouring countries when it comes to communicate online. No Russian companies are among the 150 best corporate websites in Europe. This year Russia as a country takes a step back, turning it at no. 20 in Europe. Mobile Telesystems wins the Russian ranking closely followed by the oil and gas giants Rosneft and Lukoil.

“Mobile Telesystems takes a huge step forward from last year 20th position. Climbing 20 positions in one year, from a mediocre website to the company in Russia that best fulfils the demands from the international capital market, very impressive”, says Marcus Eriksson head of H&H Webranking.

Telecommunication companies in general started to climb in the rankings last year, position themselves on the podium in almost every country. It is clearly that companies operating in the telecommunication sector benchmark and get inspired by each other instead of only look at companies within the country. Telecom Italia has been a top contender in the industry for many years and have been an inspiration for many telecommunication companies.

Russia is ranked number 20 out of the 21 countries included in H&H Webranking 2009. Only Turkey is behind Russia, while the neighbour Finland is the highest average scoring country.

“We rarely see enough share-related information, financial targets and financial statistics on Russian corporate websites. As a consequence of the large interest for financial information, especially from international investors and analysts, companies have a lot to gain from improving the financial information on their websites. Especially during this turbulent market, when investors and analysts are becoming more cautious and demanding than before,“ says Marcus Eriksson.
