OREANDA-NEWS. January 19, 2010. Belarus in 2009 transformed 169 state-controlled enterprises and created 108 open joint-stock companies (OAOs), an official with the State Property Committee told.

“In late 2009, Belarus completed transformation of Minsk Wheeled Tractor Plant, BelAZ, Borisov Avtogidrousilitel Plant, and Vityaz. Last year, Integral was transformed into three OAOs, and 17 Gomeloblavtotrans and 19 Grodnooblavtotrans transport enterprises were reformed,” the official said.

Last year, Beltelecom national fixed line operator was not transformed, although it was on the 2009 list.

In 2008, 156 state-controlled enterprises with estimated 89,000 personnel were transformed in Belarus, including Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ), Minsk Vavilov Mechanical Plant, Minsk Motor Plant (MMZ).

Of the 156 transformed companies, only 107 turned into open joint-stock companies.

The transformation plan for 2008-2010, passed by the government, included 519 enterprises.
