OREANDA-NEWS. January 19, 2010. Steel output of Zhlobin-based Belarusian Metallurgical Plant (BMZ) amounted to 2.137 million tonnes in January-November, down 5% on the year, an official with the plant told.

Rolled stock output remained unchanged year-on-year in the period to 1.851 million tonnes.

Steel pipe output amounted to 43,192 tonnes, down 15% year-on-year.

Metal cord output went down 28% to 64,139 tonnes. Steel cord output fell 3% to 116,746 tonnes.

BMZ’s overall output decreased 10.5% on the year in January-November to 2.11 million tonnes.

Total sales increased 5% on the year to 1.736 million tonnes.

State company Belarusian Metallurgical Plant was launched in 1984. BMZ exports about 85% of its output. Non-CIS countries account for more than 70% of the BMZ’s exports.
