OREANDA-NEWS. January 21, 2010. As the press service of Moldavian government has informed, this was discussed during the phone conversation between the prime minister of Moldova Vladimir Filat and the prime minister of Russia Vladimir Putin. During conversation the parties touched upon aspects of bilateral relations, in particular they discussed way of meeting arrangements reached during Yalta summit in November 2009.

The separate part of discussion was the export of Moldavian wine products to Russia which was suspended due to the problems of clearing goods at the customs. Vladimir Putin has assured that there are no problems in this regard and the existing situation is due to the technical reasons related to the Agreement of single customs space between the Russian Federation, Belarus and Kazakhstan which recently came into force.

During phone conversation it was noted that deliveries of Moldavian wines to Russia will be soon resumed. The prime minister of Moldova and Russia have also called for further development and strengthening of bilateral relations. Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Filat have agreed to meet in the nearest future. According to “Moldova-vin” due to introduction of certifying import procedure in Russia, which came into force on December 29, 2009, the suppliers of alcohol products could not clear wines and cognacs from Moldova at the customs.

There are a lot of trucks with Moldavian wines stuck at the customs due to the absence of license which should be issued by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Russia. As representatives of “Moldova-vin” note, the Russian Ministry was aware of its new powers too late and as a result was not ready to issue documents permitting import of wine to Russia. It is noted that the Moldavian winemakers were neither aware of the new rules connected with validation of the Agreement on the single customs space between the Russian Federation, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
