OREANDA-NEWS. January 22, 2010. The State Statistics Committee informs that last year communications sector rendered services for more than AZN 1 bn that is 13.1% more versus the 2008 index.

“In 2009, the population (75%) was the main consumer of rendered services. The sector received most of earnings from cellular services – 70.3% that is by 11% more than in 2008. Quantity of cellular system subscribers during the past year grew by 1.6 million and reached 7.7 million by 2010. Of them, 80.2% are active mobile phone numbers,” the Committee says.

Over 2008, domestic communication sector sales reached AZN 990.5 million. The forecast on communication sector income for 2009 was AZN 1.228 bn.
