OREANDA-NEWS. January 27, 2010. Belarus’ farm output increased 1.3% on the year in January-December to 26.5 trillion Belarusian rubles (Br), a source in the National Statistics Committee told.

Agricultural companies and farms increased production 4.2%.

Sales of fattened cattle and poultry rose 10% on the year in January-December to 1.33 million tonnes, milk output rose 5.8% to 6.585 million tonnes, and egg output went up 2.8% to 3.404 billion units.

Return on sales of Belarus’ agribusiness reached 5% in January-November 2009, down from 9.7% in January-November 2008.

Net profit of agricultural companies amounted to 1.5 trillion rubles, down 16% on the year.

In January-November 2009, farms’ net loss reached 18.6 billion rubles, up 110% year-on-year. There were 17 unprofitable farms, compared to 16 loss-makers in January-November 2008.

Overdue payables of Belarus’ agriculture were at 1.8 trillion rubles as of December 1, 2009, 18.6% of all payables. Overdue payables rose 26.8% over December 1, 2008, and exceeded overdue receivables 4.1 times.
