OREANDA-NEWS. January 28, 2010. The experts of ROSNO’s Ural Directorate have named the most socially responsible companies, based upon the statistical data collected in 2009 in terms of insurance coverage by the local companies and organizations of their liability to clients for the damage to the latter’s life, health and property. The company considered such aspects as insurance period, insurance amounts and the volume of risk package, i.e. the number of risks insured by the evaluated enterprise in favour of its clients. Only voluntary insurance products were included in the survey, reported the press-centre of ROSNO.

Overall, in 2009, ROSNO concluded 328 voluntary civil liability insurance contracts in Yekaterinburg. The most active insurants have turned out to be the owners of the department stores insuring their liability for damage inflicted due to shortcomings in goods, works, or services. The second place by the quantity of contracts is held by hoteliers, who prefer the most extensive insurance programs, which include insurance coverage of both hotel property and civil liability. The third place has been awarded to organizers of the public events: sporting clubs and junior sports schools. It has to be noted that, as regards owners of entertainment clubs, no one of them has insured own liability to guests.

The insurance amounts chosen by entrepreneurs in this type of insurance range from 300 thousand roubles to several million roubles.

The list of the most responsible companies is headed by USTA Group, which has insured the liability of its hotels and restaurant chain with ROSNO for the third consecutive year. Under the civil liability insurance contracts, ROSNO has provided coverage for the Grand Avenue Hotel, Yekaterinburg-Tsentralny Hotel, City Hotel, and Iset Hotel. The aggregate insurance amount under all civil liability insurance contracts covering the hotels of USTA Group equals 15 million roubles. These contracts insure the risk of inflicting harm to consumers of hotel services during their stay in hotel rooms or during their use of non-residential premises, such as fitness rooms, swimming pools, etc. The liability of restaurants owned by USTA Group has been insured against the risk of inflicting harm to guests due to shortcomings in consumer services.

As an example, Atrium Palace Hotel and the Centre of International Trade in Yekaterinburg have been insuring life, health and property of their guests for eight consecutive years. Notably, it also has the largest risk package. Pursuant to the terms of the insurance contract, the insurance compensation is to be paid to hotel guests in case of any harm inflicted to the latter as a result of the following: operation of residential and non-residential premises; deficiencies in the hotel services or insufficient information about the hotel services rendered by the insurant in accordance with the category assigned to the particular hotel. Guests have also been insured against damage inflicted to their property at the hotel’s parking lots. Furthermore, the insurance coverage also applies to the hotel guests’ personal belongings entrusted for safekeeping to the hotel personnel, except currency, securities, precious metals, gems and jewelry. The damage to guests will be reimbursed for the amount of up to 3 million roubles. This insurance amount is stipulated by the terms of the contract, whereby the largest liability limit has been set for damage inflicted to the guests’ health.

The list of the top five insurants also includes the food store chain Kupets, the multimedia shop Sfera, and the shop Palmetta. The civil liability of each shop has been insured for 20,000 US dollars.
