OREANDA-NEWS. February 03, 2010. According to Rauf Agayev, head of the press-service, International Bank of Azerbaijan has summarized the results of developments in electronic banking services in 2009. We shall remind that “electronic banking” services of IBA include all services of the bank provided to public via ATMs, Information Booths, Internet Banking and Mobile Banking services. Among electronic banking services are the payments of mobile and conventional telephone communications provider services, internet provider payments, instant money transfers, electronic deposits etc., reported the press-centre of IBA.

Mr. Agayev has reminded that in 2009 IBA has implemented the only on market service on payment of air tickets of SilkWay Travel via remote servicing capability systems- computer, ATM, Information Booth, Mobile Phone. As a result, IBA and SilkWay Travel clients have obtained the opportunity to perform the distant payments for electronic air tickets using IBA systems and use them in airport, with simple preliminary call to the travel agency. Such a revolutionary service in Azerbaijan, will help those travellers, who wish to save their time.

Besides, Mr. Agayev has noted that over the last year, IBA has expanded the range of options in the MobileBank system. If before, the customers could only pay for the services of Azercell mobile operator and Bakielectricshebeke power supplier, now this list is updated by Sumgayitelectricshebeke, internet providers Elcell, Azeronline and Adanet, Aztelecom company and SilkWay Travel agency. Additionally, IBA customers may use CardTransfer services, transferring funds from card to card using mobile banking.

According to information, over last 2-3 years the positive growing trend in electronic payments and transfers has been maintained over the last year. Thus, if during 2007 all electronic banking means have performed 243.8 thousand transactions for the amount of 4.88 mln. manats, and in 2008 this number was at 366.3 thousands (growth for 33.4%) and 7.94 mln. manats (growth for 38.8%), then by results of 2009 the numbers have been recorded at 499.21 thousand transactions (growth for 36.28%) and the amount of 13.6 (70.64%) mln. manats.

Mr. Agayev has noted that for the number of transactions leaders are the Azercell, Bakcell and NarMobile GSM operator service payments (about 95% of operations), but on the volume of transactions the first place is held by fund transfers from card to card “CardTransfer” (65% of total volume of operations). In this, the absolute majority of electronic banking operations was performed in the Bank ATM network. Which is not a surprise: the number of IBA ATMs by the year end has reached 600. However, if the average value of single ATM transaction was about 10 manats, the average amount of standard transactions in the MobileBank system was about 25 manats.

Significant increase was noted on the volume and quantity of operations in the Internet Banking system. As Mr. Agayev has noted, the significant growth was observed upon implementation of the more user friendly system, which does not require obtaining and annual updating of certificates from the bank, installation of software, and instead of complex calculator of single use passwords, current passwords can be obtained in the ATMs or information booths of the bank. Thus, if in 2008 the number of transaction within the system was equal to 28 thousand, in 2009 this number has exceeded 84 thousand at the volume of 170 thousand manats.

One of the most dynamically developed electronic banking services from the moment of its implementation and over the last year was CardTransfer. In comparison with 2008 the quantities and volumes of transactions have increased by 2 times and have reached the number of 17 thousand transactions with total value of 8.8 mln. manats.

IBA Press-Service has noted that Bank plans significant expansion of the range of electronic banking operations in 2010.
