In December the figure totaled US2.2 bn against US 2.096 bn in November, US 2.16 bn in October, US 1.948 bn in September, US 2.028 bn in August,  US 1.849 bn in July, US 1.677 bn in June, US1.498 bn in May, US 1.549 in April, US 1.386 bn in March, US 1.217 bn in February and US 1.200 bn in January of 2009.

The State Customs Committee (SCC) informs that last year Azerbaijan exported commodities of 2,071 names in the amount of US 14.698 bn (-69.22% or USD 33.057 bn versus 2008) against US 47.756 bn in 2008 and imported goods of 5,854 names in the amount of US 6.119 bn (-14.64% or US 1.049 bn versus 2008) against US 7.16 bn in 2008.

Positive balance on import and export operations amounted to US 8.578 bn against US 40.59 bn for 2008.

In 2009, the biggest export was registered in November (US 1.605 bn) and the least export in January (US 694.489 million) with average monthly growth of export by US 76.216 million. The largest import was registered in December (US 669.766 million) and the least one in March (US 395.8 million) with average monthly rise of US 14.02 million.

In December 2009, export operations dropped by US 72.268 million versus November 2009 and import operations grew by US 178.89 million.

For 2009 Azerbaijan’s resident and non-residents conducted trade operations with 138 countries of the world. Foreign trade operations involved totally 9,261 legal entities and individuals (4,087 and 5,174 respectively).

The share of state sector in export operations made up 93.62% or US 13.76 bn, private sector - 5.3% or US 779.497 million, individuals 1.08% or USD 158.9 million.

The share of state sector in import operations made up 33.08% (US 2.024 bn), private sector 61.99% (US 3.79 bn) and individuals 4.93% or US 301.6 million.
