OREANDA-NEWS. February 04, 2010. Delegation of the Japanese Association for Trade with Russia and new independent states "ROTOBO" paid an official visit to Nakhodka. The main goal of their visit was thorough study of present condition of Nakhodka’s seaports and influence of the world financial crisis on their functioning.


The Japanese Association ROTOBO pays special attention to Nakhodka’s seaports. ROTOBO representatives consider Nakhodka to be a significant part in trade and economic relations between Japan and Russia. So, one of the main goals nowadays is to reach former level of freight turnover between both countries, which decreased to 12 billion USD because of the world financial crisis. In 2008, by comparison, this level made up 30 billion USD.

"Nothing prevents the Trans-Siberian railroad from becoming an efficient transport and logistical line for transportation freights from Japan to the European part of Russia", - employee of the ROTOBO Institute of Economic Research Mr. NAKI noted. That is why the Japanese Association ROTOBO intends studying present condition of Nakhodka’s seaports and influence of the world financial crisis on their functioning.

According to the words of the first deputy Head of Nakhodka City District Boris GLADKIH, the world financial crisis affected Nakhodka’s seaports, although the level of total freight turnover of seaports and stevedoring companies of Nakhodka remained at the level it was in 2008.
