OREANDA-NEWS. February 08, 2010. Belarus plans to increase sugar output 12.8% on the year in 2010 to 856,510 tonnes, according to Belgospischeprom food concern.

White sugar output from beet will increase 3.4%, according to the concern.

In 2010, Skidel- and Slootsk-based refineries will increase beet-processing capacities, and Zhabinka-based refinery will raise granulated pulp-making capacity, Belgospischeprom said.

In 2009, investments in the sugar industry amounted to 158.113 billion Belarusian rubles (Br).

There are four sugar refineries in Belarus. Last year’s sugar output reached 759,410 tonnes, up 7.3% on the year.
