OREANDA-NEWS. February 10, 2010. It reduced by USD 1 billion 327 million (40.1%) in comparison with the year of 2008, it was informed at the National Statistics Office. In particular, Moldovan export in January-December 2009 totaled USD 1 billion 297.7 million, down 18.4% against the same period of the previous year. Export to the CIS countries totaled USD 490.5 million, down 20.5%.

Moldovan production supplies to the EU states reduced by 17.3% - to USD 678.5 million. The share of the CIS countries in the total Moldovan export in 2009 was 37.8 percent, down 1 percentage point. The EU’s share, on the contrary, went up to 52.3% from 51.5%. Imports to Moldova in 2009 totaled USD 3 billion 278.3 million, down 33.1% in comparison with the year of 2008.

Imports from the CIS countries to Moldova reduced by 34.3% - to USD 1 billion 140.4 million, those from the EU states – by 32.4% - to USD 1 billion 422.5 million. The share of the CIS states in the total Moldovan imports decreased last year from 35.4% to 34.8%, that of the EU states increased from 43% to 43.4%.

The deficit of the balance of trade of Moldova with the EU states reduced by 42.1% in 2009 in comparison with 2008 – to USD 744 million, that with the CIS states – by 42% - to US 649.9 million. The biggest deficit of the balance of trade of Moldova in 2009 was registered with Ukraine - USD 377.5 million. The data of the National Statistics Office of Moldova don’t include Transnistria’s trade and economic operations.
