OREANDA-NEWS. February 11, 2010. The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) reports that this January it was carried out 618,000 small payments for AZN 379 million (average size of a small payment made up AZN 613.27) versus 889,000 small payments for AZN 686 million (average size of a small payment made up AZN 771.65) in December 2009.

For comparison: in January 2009 it was conducted 233,000 payments for AZN 354 million with average payment of AZN 1,519.

In 2009, turnover of the system totaled 6.3 million payments for AZN 5.27 bn and average size of a transaction for AZN 836.88.

In 2008, 1.942 million settlements were carried out to the sum of AZN 5.367 million against 1.04 million settlements to the sum of AZN 2.138 million in 2007 and 842,000 operations in the amount of AZN 1.443 million in 2006.

The record on number of operations (889,000 transactions) transferred to December 2009, while the record on turnover a month (AZN 692 million) in December 2008 and on average size of small payment (AZN 3,200) in June 2008 kept.

The system has been operating since 2002. Since then its turnover totaled “miserable” AZN 9 million on 20,000 operations. At that, average size of payment was only AZN 400.
