OREANDA-NEWS. February 11, 2010. Izhorskiye Zavody, part of OMZ Group, has begun shipping large steel structures, the pylons details, for Zenit stadium being built on Krestovsky island. The contract for the supply of 8 pylons was signed with JSC Mostootryad №19 in August 2009. Total weight of delivered metal structures is 2 360 tons. The contract is signed until May 2010.

A pylon is a supporting structure 120 meters in length and weighing about 300 tons. In a single construction blocks are collected through bolts. The internal cavity has pylon ribs, ladders and platforms for rest during the ascent and descent of personnel. Pylons are the main element of the sliding roof of the sport facility. Cables will be suspended from 16 main diagonal trusses that will hold the roof membrane, the total area of which when unfolded is more than 2000 square meters.

Construction of the stadium was launched in 2007. The architectural design was developed by Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa. The height of the object is 54 meters; the area of the football field is about 10 thousand square meters.
