OREANDA-NEWS. February 11, 2010. Lufthansa and Austrian airlines passengers departing from Saint-Petersburg have been offered online check in service.

From as early as 23 hours before departure passengers can check in using Lufthansa and Austrian airlines web-sites. Online check in is available till 3 hours before departure. The new service saves time for passing all airport formalities. While checking in passengers may reserve convenient seats, print out online boarding passes at home or in the office, for themselves and passengers travelling with them who are older than two years.

Possessing ID-documents, printed electronic ticket and boarding pass passengers should arrive to the airport 1 hour before departure to check in their baggage and to pass security control, customs and border formalities. Baggage check in is available till 45 minutes before departure.

“Pulkovo Airport is working on the implementation of online check in. This service is also available for S7 and KLM airlines flights. We expect other airlines to join the list” – Pulkovo airport passenger handling director Sergey Piliponskiy says.

Bart Buyse, Lufthansa’s regional manager to St. Petersburg and the Russian Northwest, said: “We are happy that Lufthansa passengers could now save their time with the help of the on-line registration system. You register at home using internet and you can feel yourself as you are already flying, because there is nothing to worry about any more! After the system is put into the operation in Pulkovo, Petersburg joins all other Lufthansa destinations in Russia, where on-line registration system efficiently works already”.
