OREANDA-NEWS. February 12, 2010. WB country manager for Azerbaijan Gregory T.Jedrzeiczak says that they by the present ARP reduced from three to one project.

“Already 18 months have passed since approval of the Program. According to the WB procedures, if for 18 months the credit agreement is not signed, then the project will be withdrawn. We wanted much ARP full realization, but the government decided not to sign agreements on two projects,” he said.

Program of ARP worth US164 million included the Contaminated Sites Rehabilitation Project (ARP I), for which the bank provided US 74.5 million under the terms of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) for the term of 17 years with 4-year grace period,  Integrated Solid Waste Management Project (ARP II) for which the bank allocated US 29.5 million under the same terms and the Large Scale Oil Polluted Land Clean-up Project (ARP III) (WB Loan in the amount of US 60 million).

As a result, the program gathered up to one project of ARP II: Integrated Solid Waste Management Project that is being realized by the Ministry of Emergency Situations and “Clean city” OJSC (Tamiz Shahar).

At the same time earlier the consulting companies began preparation for participation in a tender for consulting services to be announced by the Ministry for Emergency Situations within ARP.
The Ministry was expected to implement ARP I and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) - ARP III.

Although ARP III was not signed, SOCAR states that its will realize this project directioins at its own expense.
