OREANDA-NEWS. February 12, 2010. Freight One increased its coal haulage on the Far Eastern Railway by 50% from December to January due to severe cold. The sharp increase in coal haulage was necessitated by severe cold in January. According to meteorologists, the average daily air temperature in the first month of 2010 was below the long-established norm in almost all the regions of the Far East.

Nearly 120,000 tons of coal were carried on the Far Eastern Railway in Freight One cars in January 2010 compared with only 75,600 tons in December. This translates to a growth rate of 57%.

Haulage for thermal power plants belonging to the Far Eastern Generating Company accounted for 84,000 tons, which is nearly 70% of the total.

About 22,500 tons of coal were hauled in Freight One freight cars from Lipovtsy and Chegdomyn stations of the Far Eastern Railway for the Artemovskaya CHP. More than 32,000 tons were hauled from Novoshakhtinsk Station (Far Eastern Railway) for the Vladivostok TETs-2 CHP plant. About 17,000 tons were hauled from Chegdomyn Station for the Khabarovsk TETs-1 CHP plant.

About 7,000 tons of coal were hauled to the Arsenyev, Spassky, Lesozavodsk and other branches of Primteploenergo.

In addition, over 38,000 tons of coal were hauled in Freight One cars in January from the stations of "Railways of Yakutia," including 17,000 tons for the Partizanskaya GRES power station

"January is usually the coldest month of the year, and we were ready for a significant increase in energy demand" said Vladivostok branch director Victor Osipov. "There is a large fleet of gondolas belonging to Freight One on the Far Eastern Railway, so all the runs were completed on schedule".
