In 2009 UTK invested 115 million rubles in modernization of telecom networks of its Krasnodar branch operating in the area where most popular Black Sea resorts, including Olympic Sochi, are located. Besides Big Sochi, the Olympic zone includes seaside and mounting ski resorts Anapa, Gelendjik, Tuapse, Teberda, Dombay, Arkhyz, Lago-Naki where most sportsmen and fans will live. They will also be reserve Olympic sites. Within the framework of this work UTK continues the construction of a 80 km-long fiber optic line for sports grounds Gornaya Karusel, Roza- Khutor, Adler - Olympic park and Sochi-Adler. In 2010 the Company plans to invest about 110 million rubles in these projects.

In the area of Caucasian Mineral Waters UTK put into operation a new NGN network having capacity of 11,500 lines (Pyatigorsk). In future the Company plans to develop broadband networks on the basis of FTTb and FTTx technologies.

To develop the telecommunications infrastructure of Prielbrusie ski resorts, in 2010 UTK plans to commission a 2 Mbit/sec digital channel in the Kabardino-Balkaria Republic. The fiber optic line will be 44 km long. The investments will exceed 28 million rubles.

UTK continues the construction of fiber optic lines in the ski resorts Dombay and Arkhyz in the Karachaevo-Cherkessia Republic. Their length will be 71 and 56 km, respectively. The company plans to invest about 50 million rubles in this project.

Most of the national resort zones are situated in the Southern region of the country, where Southern Telecommunications Company operates. Therefore, the Company sees the priority in providing them with modern telecommunications services. Over 70 million tourists visit resorts of the Southern federal district every year. The construction of the Inter-regional transportation network integrating all UTK’s branches allowed the Company to improve the quality of services and to make signal more stable. Pass-through capacity of the network makes 10 Gbit/sec.
