OREANDA-NEWS. February 19, 2010. The volume of gross regional product of Jizzakh region grew by 6.9% in 2009, according to the information made public at the region's administration session devoted to the results of socioeconomic development and priority tasks for 2010.

Growth rated in industry made up 5.4%, agriculture – 4.1%, construction and contract work – 18.6%, retail trade – 16.3%, paid services – 15.8%.

Capital funds worth 230.2 billion soums have been utilized due to all financial sources during the Year of Rural Development. Over 393,700 sq m of housing were built, 195.5 km of water pipes and 55.1 km of gas pipe lines laid, 72 schools reconstructed as a result. Five new schools and 14 sport structures were commissioned in the reporting period.

Foreign trade turnover of Jizzakh region comprised 4.8 billion in 2009. Foreign investments worth 18.6 billion soums were attracted in economy, of which 11.8 billion soums fell to direct investments. Commercial banks allocated over 62.2 billion soums of credits to support small business and private entrepreneurs of the region.
