OREANDA-NEWS. February 24, 2010. As it was informed in the Ukrainian Embassy in Moldova, the Ukraine continues to maintain a leading position in the foreign trade with Moldova, taking the first place on the import volume which amounted to USD 458.8 million and the third place on the volume of foreign trade turnover amounting to USD 540.1 million.

At the same time, Moldovan export to the Ukraine totaled USD 81.3 million. Ukraine mostly exports ferrous metals, mineral products (including diesel fuel, liquid gas), foodstuffs, pipes and timber. Moldova exports foodstuffs, plant products as well as fats and oils, textiles, medicines and plastic.

It should be noted that Moldova has increased exports of sunflower, sunflower and rapeseed oil, raw tobacco and plastics. Taking into account the positive trends of socio-economic development of the Ukraine in the second half of the last year and January 2010 (in November 2009, the industrial output growth amounted to 8,6%, in December - 7,4%, in January 2010 compared to January 2009 - 11,8%), the Ukrainian experts predict an increase in deliveries of Moldovan goods to Ukraine and the subsequent reduction of the existing trade balance.
