OREANDA-NEWS. February 25, 2010. Among Estonian mobile operators, EMT made the largest investments in 2009, according to annual reports of mobile operators, reported the press-centre of EMT.

In 2009, EMT invested EEK 255 million, Tele2 EEK 168 million and Elisa EEK 110 million.

Development of mobile internet is one of EMT’s priorities for 2010. EMT has built the largest and most dense 3.5G network in Estonia. EMT 3.5G covers all major cities and towns and is also growing in smaller populated areas, summer house areas and rural areas. At the end of 2009, EMT 3.5G was available in 75 cities and towns and also in smaller areas.

Currently, EMT is the only one to provide 21 Mbps maximum download speed (HSDPA) in 3.5G network - this is 1.5-3 times faster than DL speed in other networks. Data upload speed reaches up to 5.76 Mbps. Moreover, EMT is the only mobile operator to cover the whole country with EDGE data communication network which is four times faster than GPRS offered as an alternative data transmission service in other networks.
