OREANDA-NEWS. February 25, 2010. The conference with the Chairman of Oranta's Supervisory Board was held in the press center of the information agency RBK-Ukraine. The conference was conducted in the framework of the nation's Person of the Year 2009 program, in which Oleg Spilka is a laureate in the nomination “Insurance Market Leader of the Year."

The answers to the questions of readers and listeners were live broadcast. In the course of the conference, the following topics were touched upon: Oleg Spilka’s personal and business plans, Oranta's peculiarities and advantages, as well as the situation on Ukraine’s insurance market.

When answering the question on Oranta’s market share, the Chairman of Oranta's Supervisory Board pointed out, “The difficulty in the estimation of the company's share in classic insurance market lies in the ambiguity of the volume of Ukraine's entire classic insurance market. There are two approaches to the estimation of the market volume. The first one is macroeconomic. It relies on the statistical calculation of the expected share of insurance in gross domestic product. And the second one is expert approach; it estimates the market volume according to insurance types. In 2009 Oranta's share in classic insurance market, according to the estimates obtained using the above approaches, ranged from 11.5% to 12%. "

When answering the question on the debts of the State Insurance Company of the Soviet Union, Oleg Spilka said, “We will soon renew our negotiations with the government of Ukraine with regard to the repayment of debts. In addition, we are considering the possibility for Oranta to take over a part of the debts. However, we will undoubtedly need the government assistance.”

In conclusion of the conversation the Chairman of Oranta's Supervisory Board said, “Our main competitive advantage lies in our deep-rooted traditions and extensive experience. Oranta has been on the market for almost 90 years. The employees who have been working in the company for 30-40 years maintain not only traditions of the company but also traditions of Ukrainian insurance.”
