OREANDA-NEWS. February 25, 2010. Belarus’ producer price index (PPI) went up 0.7% on the month in January, an official with the National Statistics Committee told.

Production facilities prices edged up 0.8%, intermediate materials prices went up 0.6%, and consumer goods prices increased 0.9%.

Prices rose 13.6% in the medical industry, 0.1% in the microbiological industry, 0.5% in the light industry and 0.5% in the food-processing industry.

Prices rose in electrical power engineering 0.3%, in mechanical engineering and metalworking 0.6%, in the chemical industry 0.2%, in the petrochemical industry 1.9%, in the construction materials industry 2.7%.

Prices increased 2.3% in ferrous metallurgy and remained unchanged in the flour-and-cereals industry.

Producer price decreased 0.3% in the glass and porcelain industry and 0.7% in the fuel industry.

Freight tariffs went increased 4.6% in January 2010 from December. Automobile freight tariffs went up 1%, and railroad freight tariffs went up 8%, air transport tariffs went down 1.4%, and pipeline tariffs edged up 0.4%.

PPI rose 14.5% on the year in 2009 following the rise of 14.2% on the year in 2008.
