According to the National Bank’s data, as of February 12, monetary reserves totaled USD 1 billion 503.05 million, as of February 5- USD 1 billion 458.76 million, as of January 29, 2010 - USD 1 billion 464.36 million, as of December 31, 2009 - USD 1 billion 480.3 million.

As it was reported earlier, in 2009, the NBM’s monetary reserves reduced by USD 192.16 million (11.5%), amounting to about USD 1 billion 480.3 million as of December 31. In 2008, Moldova’s monetary reserves increased by USD 338.72 million (25,4%) totaling about USD 1 billion 333.68 million as of the beginning of 2008.

The absolute historical maximum of USD 1.8 billion was reached by the NBM’s monetary reserves in late September 2008, however, they started reducing as the global financial-economic crisis began.
