OREANDA-NEWS. March 02, 2010. Lithuanian companies are increasingly investing in modern communication technologies that will increase their availability – the Trend Report conducted by TeliaSonera, the largest telecommunications company in the Nordic and Baltic countries, shows that every tenth company in Lithuania already provides information about itself through social networking sites.

According to the survey, 9.7% of companies in Lithuania provide information through Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites. Another 7% of companies intend to pay considerable attention to this kind of communication this year. Almost 14% of Lithuanian companies have already implemented possibilities on their websites for direct communication with customers, and a further 9% are planning to do that by the end of 2010.
 
According to the survey conducted in October 2009, 12.9% of Lithuanian companies publish on their websites the blogs written by one of their executives. Another 8.5% intend to start using this means of communication in 2010. However, e-mail still remains the most popular means of communicating with customers – it is currently used by 69.2% of the surveyed companies.

In 2010, the telecommunications company TEO entered Facebook, the most popular social networking site in Lithuania, by presenting the group of GALA digital TV fans – GALA TV Guru. According to Nerijus Ivanauskas, Chief Marketing Officer of TEO, soon after its launch, GALA TV Guru has become one of the most popular groups in the telecommunications field on this social networking site.
 
Each week, GALA TV Guru fans can vote for a movie, which next week will be available on Video-On-Demand for free, and also there is a variety of ongoing quizzes and games”, - N. Ivanauskas said.
 
Different surveys in the field of telecommunications are available on the website www.teo.lt, in a new section called “Surveys and Trends”. In addition to the survey of the general public and companies performed by TeliaSonera, this section also publishes information on the most popular channels among users of the digital television Interactive GALA service – “GALA metrai” (GALA Meters), data on the habits of Internet users in Lithuania, as well as links to other surveys in this area.
