OREANDA-NEWS. March 03, 2010. By the order of the Federal Agency of Maritime and River Transport of the RF Ministry of Transport (RosMorRechFlot) of December 18h, 2009 (N AD-273-p) the data of the seaport of Murmansk was filed in the Russian Register of Seaports. The port of Murmansk was assigned a serial registration A-1.

Earlier reports said the Russian Ministry of Transport in its April 1st last year’s order N51 "On approval of the Register of seaports of Russia" authorized RosMorRechFlot to keep a register of seaports of Russia. The seaports Register includes all information on the port location, its foundation date, portfolio of assets, accessible services and the list of operators at its marine terminals, the main technical characteristics, including its handling facilities capacity, maintenance of vessels and /or passenger service, the navigation period, etc.

The port is Murmansk is located on the Kola Peninsula on the coast of the Barents Sea and is the world's largest port, located above the Arctic Circle. Murmansk is the most northerly ice-free ports of Russia. The Murmansk transport hub has been projected on the basis of the port of Murmansk. The "Integrated Development of the Murmansk transport hub" project was listed in the federal target program "Development of Transport System of Russia (2010-2015 years).
