OREANDA-NEWS. March 05, 2010. This indicator has been going down for the second year in row – in 2008 it reduced by 5.8% in comparison with 2007, it was informed at the National Electronic Communications and Information Technologies Agency.

According to the Agency, sales of the national fixed communication operator Moldtelecom reduced in 2009 by 12% - to 1 billion 891 million leis, and the joint turnover of alternative suppliers of the fixed communication reduced by 39.4% - to 36.43 million leis. As a result, the average return per user (ARPU) decreased by 15% totaling 142.96 leis.

Moldtelecom has this indicator amounting to 143.3 leis, alternative suppliers – 111.2 leis. This tendency is mainly explained by the reduction of the total volume of traffic in the fixed communication traffic by 11.4%. The traffic in fixed telephony suppliers’ own networks reduced by 5.3%, the international traffic – by 18.5%, inter-connection traffic – by 29%.

In opinion of the Agency’s specialists, the fall of the fixed telephone market was caused on the one hand by intensification of the process of replacement of the fixed communication by the mobile one, on the other – reduction of the level of consumption of these services due to the financial-economic crisis.
