OREANDA-NEWS. March 5, 2010. A meeting of Directors of enterprises involved in the management process of establishment of the Fuel Company on the basis of JSC TVEL took place at JSC TVEL’s headquarters.

The meeting was chaired by the JSC TVEL’s President Yuri Olenin. On the first day, the event was attended by Vladislav Korogodin, Deputy Director at JSC Atomenergoprom.

Meeting’s agenda comprised summary of the results of activities of key nuclear fuel cycle enterprises for 2009 and included implementation of the investment projects and a project for creation of a new enterprise image. In addition, directors of the enterprises will report on the progress of implementation of comprehensive programmes for production development and measures taken to implement the production system of Rosatom. Tasks for the year 2010 and outlook until 2015 were also deliberated at the meeting.

At the meeting’s opening, JSC TVEL’s President Yuri Olenin noted that the Fuel Company’s primary tasks will be increase of market presence and competitive advantages of domestic nuclear fuel cycle enterprises.

„We have to set course for an innovative development and achieve leadership due to the increased labour productivity, growth in production volumes, reduction of costs and improvement of skills and education of the staff“, said Y. Olenin. At the same time, he stressed that reduction of staff could not end in itself but had to take place considering social aspects, in particular, in closed towns. “Growth in production volumes is the most important goal for us”, he said. At the meeting, however, it was mentioned several times that domestic nuclear fuel cycle enterprises lagged behind their foreign competitors in indicators such as the production area, energy costs, and number of staff.

According to the words of Yuri Olenin, a goal to hire high-skilled staff and retain them in the enterprises is nowadays gaining on primary importance since the struggle for top specialists available in the market will increase in the near future. JSC TVEL’s President also noted that salaries and wages in the Fuel Company enterprises will have to become competitive with those abroad. “Our task is to increase social independence, create conditions for retaining the personnel”, said Olenin.

During the first day of the meeting, some results of the work on implementation of the production system of Rosatom and the new image of JSC TVEL’s programme were articulated.

In particular, the analysis showed that productivity in JSC MSZ increased by 3.5 times over the last four years and economic effect from restructuring in powder and fuel tablet production reached approximately 3 billion rubles. However, in size of the area and infrastructure MSZ still lags somewhat behind similar foreign plants. On top of that, the average salary in the enterprise has more than doubled since 2006 (from 16.5 thousand to 38.54 thousand rubles based on 2009 results). It is expected that based on results of 2010, the average salary in MSZ will reach 43.5 thousand rubles.

On 18 February, close attention was paid to the issues of sublimation and separation enterprises development. Director of the Human Resources Department of state corporation Rosatom Dmitry Bulavinov and the head of the Division of Coordination and Development of nuclear fuel cycle production of the Department of NRS and NFC coordination at JSC Atomenergoprom Oleg Linyaev took part in the meeting.
