A technical tour round the main enterprise shops manufacturing also nuclear fuel for the Czech NPPs was organised for the guests.

It was stated during the visit that high level of Russian and Czech interaction in supplying Russian nuclear fuel to the Czech NPPs enables to reckon on its full scale development and extension taking implementation of new common projects into consideration.

JSC TVEL’s Vice-President Vasili Konstantinov stressed that relations between the two countries in the field of nuclear fuel cycle have come to the new level of development. According to his words, the plans of establishment of the Fuel Company on the basis of JSC TVEL encompass a construction of a nuclear fuel fabrication plant in the territory of one of the EU countries. The Czech Republic may become the chosen country due to a considerable fleet of Russian design reactors disposed by the state. JSC TVEL has finalized the investment feasibility study.

„Equipment for the plant will be manufactured by JSC MSZ and components will be delivered by other JSC TVEL subsidiaries“, said Vasili Konstantinov. According to his words, “the establishment of an assembling plant abroad is an important competitive element.”

During their visit to JSC MSZ, members of the Czech delegation again confirmed the advantages of the Russian fuel to the Western analogues. They also noted JSC TVEL’s endeavour towards continuous innovative development and improvement of production. Special accent was put on safety and reliability of the Russian fuel assemblies. These criteria were, in particular, considered when the Czech operator made a decision on early discharge of the Westinghouse’s fuel from reactors in Temelin NPP.

„The visit was very important for us since Czech Republic plans to develop technologies for peaceful use of atom. By visiting Elektrostal, we became convinced of the fact that state-of-the-art technologies were implemented in the Russian plant”, said Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic Tomas Huner when summarizing the visit.
