OREANDA-NEWS. March 09, 2010. Igor Artemyev presented his report "TFAS Russia's achievements in 2009 and objectives for 2010" at the extended annual session of the Collegium of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia), that took place at the Russian Academy of Administrative Service under the President of the Russian Federation, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The Heads of all 82 regional offices of FAS Russia, representatives of non-government organizations and officers of the Central Office of the Antimonopoly Service participated in the Collegium.

Opening the session, Igor Artemyev welcomed its participants and guests, which included representatives of the Executive Office of the President of the Russian Federation, the State Duma and the Federation Council, the Prosecutor's Office, the Russian Ministry of Interior and business associations.

The Head of FAS Russia highlighted the major achievements of the antimonopoly authority in legislation and enforcement practice and outlined the main priorities in the work of the Antimonopoly Service.

Igor Artemyev said that only due to robust cooperation between the Antimonopoly Service and the law enforcement bodes and prosecution authorities it was possible to achieve significant advancement in combating cartels. He expressed his confidence that further cooperation between these agencies, exchange of opinions and dialoguing would help building the system and principles of fair competition.

According to Igor Artemyev, in 2009, in comparison with 2008, the Antimonopoly Service was much more active in initiating proceedings for violating the antimonopoly law as well as the law on advertising.

The overall number of cases initiated by the antimonopoly bodies in 2009 reached 9665, which is 1.5 times more that 2008 and 3 times more that in 2005.
