OREANDA-NEWS. March 10, 2010. Law firm SORAINEN has strengthened its regional team by inviting new partners to join the firm’s partnership in Latvia, Lithuania, and Belarus. In Latvia and Lithuania, senior associates Rudolfs Engelis and Algirdas Peksys are promoted to partner. In Belarus, Alexey Anischenko, who holds over ten years of experience gained with another top tier law firm, joined SORAINEN in January 2010, reported the press-centre of SORAINEN.

Rudolfs Engelis is appointed partner with SORAINEN Latvia, where he has worked since 2004. Today Rudolfs is head of the SORAINEN Latvia Banking & Finance team. He has advised on some of the largest financing transactions in Latvia during recent years, including all financial law aspects of the state takeover of Parex banka. At the beginning of 2010, Rudolfs was also appointed head of the firm’s Competition & Regulatory and Insurance teams in Latvia.

In Lithuania, Algirdas Peksys, who joined SORAINEN in 2005, is promoted to partner. He now leads the SORAINEN Corporate Advisory team in Lithuania as well as regionally. Algirdas has long term experience as an in-house counsel with OMX Vilnius stock exchange. He specialises in corporate law, employment law, and capital markets and is regarded as a leading expert in these fields in Lithuania.

Alexey Anischenko joined SORAINEN Belarus as a partner in January 2010 to lead and develop SORAINEN Dispute Resolution and Commercial Contracts practice areas in Belarus. International legal directories recognise Alexey as a leading practitioner in Belarus. Alexey is also a legal adviser to the Economic Court of the CIS and a regional World Trade Organisation expert for Belarus.

All together there are now 21 partners in SORAINEN, with 7 in Estonia, 5 in Latvia, 5 in Lithuania, and 4 in Belarus.
