OREANDA-NEWS. March 12, 2010. The delegation of the FAS Russia took part in the Workshop and the Conference devoted to the 5th Anniversary of the Regional Centre for Competition OECD-Hungary in Budapest, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The Heads and the representatives of competition authorities of Eastern and South-East Europe as well as CIS-countries participated in the Workshop on the effective operation of competition authorities. The main problems and challenges of the participated authorities as well as methods of solutions were discussed during the workshop. Mr. Zoltan Nagy (President of the Hungarian Competition Authority) and Mr. Bernard J.Phillips (Head of Competition Division of the OECD) as well as other experts reported on this topic.

Moreover, within the frameworks of the 5th Anniversary of the Regional Centre for Competition the FAS Russia's delegation took part in the Conference devoted to the activity of the RCC, its role, aims and achievements. Special attention was paid to the issues of competition enforcement during and after the crisis. Mr. Frederic Jenny (Chairman of Competition Committee of the OECD) and Mr. William E. Kovacic (Commissioner of the US Federal Trade Commission of the USA) as well as heads of competition authorities of Eastern and South-East Europe reported on this topic among others.

Apart from participating in the events devoted to the 5th Anniversary of the Regional Centre for Competition OECD-Hungary in Budapest, the FAS Russia's delegation held several meetings with representatives of the Hungarian Competition Authority and the Competition Committee of the OECD, with the aim to advance bilateral cooperation in competition policy and discuss the organization of future joint events.

The RCC is a partnership project between the OECD and Hungary that provides opportunities to exchange experience and best OECD practices on capacity building in competition policy and enforcement in the following countries: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Georgia, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, Romania, Russian Federation and Ukraine.

The participation in these events allowed representatives of the Federal Antimonopoly Service to get familiar with the practice of solving main problems of competition policy through experience of Eastern and South-East Europe countries, as well as to express own point of view on these issues based on the Russian legislation and enforcement.
