OREANDA-NEWS. March 12, 2010. The program included construction and commissioning of a 12 МW power generator that recaptures heat released in the production process; enhancement of the phosphogypsum storage areas together with upgraded discharge pipes and clarified water pipelines; rehabilitation of waste lands on the mine site; and a major overhaul of the storm water disposal system pipes and the service and industrial water pipes.

Between 2005 and 2009, annual emissions into the air were reduced by half, while annual effluent discharge decreased by ca. 4.5 times, from 22,300 m3 to 4,900 m3. In 2009 EuroChem invested RUR 167.4 m into environmental protection at Phosphorit.

Phosphorit has introduced a real-time monitoring environmental impact monitoring system for hazardous substance content in waste water and exhaust gases.

Installation of advanced equipment and other environmental protection measures taken by the Phosphorit are part of EuroChem’s Safety, Health and Environment Policy Environmental Management Program.
