OREANDA-NEWS. March 15, 2010. The results were announced of the First Innovations in the Construction Industry Contest, which was held within KazBuild Spring 2010 and WinTecExpo Kazakhstan 2010. The event was organised by Iteca and IDEAS magazine.

16 new products, including construction and finishing materials, were presented to the contest. The main criteria for evaluation were: ergonomics, manufacturability and demand. The jury consisted of professional independent experts in the field of architecture and design, and representatives of government bodies working in the field of innovation in construction.

The competition was conducted in two phases. First, the jury looked at the items presented and gave preliminary assessments. Then the jury filled out evaluation forms with the direct presentation by the contestants of their new products. In addition, 11 designers and architects from Almaty were invited to take part in assessing the new products.

The winning companies were:

1st place: Termo Tech for Isollat thermos paint, a heat insulating and corrosion-resistant material, produced in Russia, with wide application.

2nd place: Kostanai DWT, for its multi-purpose cutting machine, МРС-110. This versatile tool works on various surfaces without changing the cutting disk, sawing copper, iron, aluminum, laminates, plastics, plywood, drywall, wood, and more.

3rd place: Tikkurila, with its Gibrisil self-cleaning facade paint. The company also received the prize for “Best Presentation”.

The People’s Choice Award was presented to three companies in several categories: BetaUnoPuntoZero, an office furniture system, from the company Domus-A won in the “Most Ergonomic Construction Product” category; Knauf Insulation - for its Ecose mineral thermal insulation, bonded using a bio-based technology free from formaldehyde, phenols and acrylics - won in the “Most Manufacturable Construction Product” category; and KazDizel won in the “Most In Demand Product” category with its Tion A55 professional air purification equipment developed in Russia.

KazBuild Spring 2010 and WinTecExpo Kazakhstan 2010 are held in Atakent Exhibition Centre, Almaty, on 2-5 March. The event is organised by Iteca, together with international partners from the UK, Germany and Turkey. The total exhibition area of both events this year is 4055m?. The exhibitions feature over 165 companies from 14 countries.
