OREANDA-NEWS. March 16, 2010. In the ten months from the introduction of the direct OMTPL loss settlement procedure, ROSNO’s Siberian Directorate received 162 applications from the company’s clients, 109 whereof were settled by the end of 2009, reported the press-centre of ROSNO.

During the first months, insurants treated this innovation with caution. ROSNO’s clients started actively using the new system in mid-2009. Beginning from July, the quantity of applications was steadily rising 1.5 to 2 times each month. In December, the specialists of ROSNO’s Siberian Directorate recorded over 100 applications. Overall, in 2009, the share of directly settled losses in all OMTPL losses claimed to the Directorate equalled 6.6%.

The insurance compensations under the new system were most actively applied for by insurants in Novosibirsk, Novokuznetsk, Krasnoyarsk, and Irkutsk. Significantly, these very regions were the only regions to show active use of the direct loss settlement system in the summer, while the majority of the remaining regions covered by the Directorate recorded first applications only in November and December. Novosibirsk became an absolute leader in terms of the quantity of applications — beginning from July, ROSNO’s specialists recorded 66 applications for payment under the direct loss settlement system.

"The results of the first 10 months of work demonstrate that the direct loss settlement system has proven its efficiency, and that it is steadily picking up. The withdrawal of restrictions as to dates of purchase of OMTPL policies has notably grown the flow of ROSNO’s clients applying for compensation under the direct loss settlement system, — notes Mr. Viktor Kochetov, deputy director and executive director of ROSNO’s Siberian Directorate. — However, in order for the system to start operating at its full capacity, legislators have to adopt an amendment stipulating that aggrieved parties should apply for compensation only to their own insurance company. We hope that in 2010 such amendment will be passed".
