OREANDA-NEWS. March 17, 2010. Sovcomflot Executive Vice-President Nikolay Kolesnikov attended the XXIX Annual CERA WEEK-2020 Conference which took place in Houston on 8 – 12 March 2010. Leading representatives of the energy sector and influential statesmen from more than 50 countries attended this annual forum, which is among the energy world’s top five events This year the slogan of the conference was “Energy: building a new future”.

Speaking on the second day of the conference, while discussing the issues of hydrocarbons transportation in the Eurasian region, Nikolay Kolesnikov informed the participants about the experience gained by SCF Group in the implementation of long-term industrial projects involving oil production development in the Arctic offshore fields of the Russian Federation.

In his presentation Nikolay Kolesnikov examined the issues of effective and safe seaborne transportation of hydrocarbons, giving an example of a joint Swedish Stena Bulk and Sovcomflot B-Max tanker project (about 200,000 dwt). The operation of the B-Max will enable two standard 100,000 crude oil shipments to be carried at a time which will result in increased commercial seaborne transportation efficiency and in the decrease of shipping intensity in the environmentally vulnerable region of the Baltic Sea.

The participants of the conference expressed their interest in the information about a joint project of Sovcomflot and Russia’s oil and gas companies in arranging pilot cargo voyages along the Northern Sea Route eastbound, to transport Russian hydrocarbons to the customers in the Asia-Pacific region.
