RTS Released Stock Market Weekly Trading Results

OREANDA-NEWS. March 17, 2010. Over the week of March 9 – March 12, 2010, the RTS Index went up by 1.76% to reach 1,534.68 points (1,508.21 points as of March 5, 2010). Most of the positive impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the growing prices for ordinary shares of Sberbank (SBERS) (plus 9.58 points) followed by ordinary shares of JSC "RusHydro" (HYDRS) (plus 3.48 points) and ordinary shares of OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL" (GMKNS) (plus 3.25 points).

The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, lost 0.08% to reach 9,760.81 points (9,768.22 points as of March 5, 2010). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced an increase of 3.31% closing at 1,704.55 points (1,649.88 points as of March 5, 2010). Last week most of the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a positive trend. The largest growth was reported by the power sector, with the RTS Electric Utilities Index adding 6.16%. A significant increase was also shown by the financial and consumer & retail sectors, with the RTS Finances Index and RTS Consumer & Retail Index gaining 2.72% and 2.62% respectively. The slightest decline was demonstrated by the industrial sector, with the RTS Industrial Index shedding 1.97%.

Last week the US dollar depreciated by 1.01% against the ruble to reach 29.52 rubles per US dollar (29.82 rubles as of March 5, 2010).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week of March 9 – March 12, 2010 equaled USD9.30 billion (276.20 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD1,549.94 million.

The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD843.05 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD311.27 million and ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOH) with a turnover of USD125.03 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 52.46%, 19.37% and 7.78% respectively.

The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of JSC "INTER RAO UES" (IRAO) that went up by 15.86% to USD0.00168 followed by preferred shares of OJSC Bashneft (BANEP) – by 14.49% to USD19.75 and ordinary shares of JSC "OGK-2" (OGKB) – by 13.51% to reach USD0.0437.

The week's top losers were ordinary shares of IDGC of Centre, JSC (MRKC) that fell 7.50% to reach USD0.0333 followed by ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOH) that lost 2.19% to reach USD53.5 and preferred shares of Transneft (TRNFP) that shed 2.12% to reach USD830.
