OREANDA-NEWS. March 19, 2010. In 2009, the Ulyanovsk Automobile Factory became the second-largest manufacturer of vehicles purchased pursuant to the program of the Russian Ministry of Regional Development which provided for the sale of 3,300 vehicles to regional government customers.

UAZ off-road vehicles have long recommended themselves as socially vital vehicles in service with critical government agencies. Thanks to the Ministry of Regional Development's program, in 2009 many of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation had the opportunity to upgrade and add equipment to their fleets with over 3,300 UAZ vehicles and specialized vehicles based on them.

Pursuant to resolution no. 253 of March 24, 2009, the budgets of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation received subsidies from the federal budget for the purchase of vehicles and municipal cleaning equipment. The primary buyers of UAZ vehicles are agencies in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and subdivisions of the Ministry of Health and Social Development, together making up over 90% of all of the UAZ vehicles supplied around the country.

UAZ-based ambulances provide timely medical care to the public in districts and provinces with poor road conditions. For this purpose, the factory offers an entire lineup of all-terrain vehicles for the needs of the subdivisions of the Ministry of Health and Social Development, including all-terrain ambulances types A and B. Additionally, an addition to the UAZ specialized vehicle lineup in 2009 was the T-Rex all-terrain model with a load capacity of up to 3.5 tons. The new vehicles are designed mainly for use by public safety services in emergencies, to help with rescue operations, to deliver humanitarian aid, and to assist with evacuation and providing timely medical care in inaccessible regions. T-Rex vehicles can be utilized for any kind of rescue operations in case of disaster or industrial accident.

The specialized UAZ-based vehicles, designed for the needs of the Interior Ministry, will support safety and law enforcement efforts. Some of the most in-demand UAZ models include the UAZ Hunter-based models, patrol vehicles, and vehicles based on the UAZ-3909 and UAZ-3741.

In 2010, UAZ plans to expand its lineup of vehicles designed for the Interior Ministry, adding a new off-roader with high reliability and cross-country capability. One of the advantages of the new vehicle is its attractive price, allowing buyers to save around 23%. Production of the vehicle will start in March 2010.

Government decree no. 1459-r of October 5 will continue in effect this year, meaning that government customers of vehicles may make agreements for equipment supply directly with OAO UAZ, without competitive bidding and involving intermediaries. Thus, this way of working significantly reduces the time needed for the Client to cheese a supplier and sign a contract.
