OREANDA-NEWS. March 22, 2010. Sorochinskneft NGDU has set up a central flood commission and has drawn and approved measures to prepare company facilities in the potential flood zone. Special attention will be paid to the state of rivers, streams and water bodies, for which approach roads to river crossings are being cleared and monthly inspections of pipeline crossings over water obstacles have been organized.

Flood protection installations are being checked and prepared for use: oil removal devices, stationary and rapid—deployment floating barriers. In the potential flood zone preventive maintenance has been carried out on equipment, beam pumps and pipelines. Idle oil pipelines and drainage systems have been emptied of oil produces and substantial stocks of oil-absorbing sorbents, tools and materials for collecting oil on land and water have been prepared. Pumping equipment, measurement devices and electrical equipment are being made ready and shutoff valves in the potential flood area are being checked. Process staff are keeping a close watch around the clock at potentially hazardous oil production facilities and are checking wells and oil pipelines.
