OREANDA-NEWS. March 24, 2010. For the first time the reconstruction of lines Komienergo (a branch of IDGC of North-West) uses new type of the ground wire. The first object became one of the sites of the 110 kV overhead power line “Mikun-Edva”.

This year a new ground wire with high physical properties is used instead of the old-type one at reconstruction of the site “Vezhaika-Vozhskaya” of 36 km in length. It is more resistant against the lightning effect and corrosion; it has raised mechanical durability that is important during icing. The term of operation of the new-type ground wire is 2.5 times higher.

The applied modern technologies also include multifrequency vibration suppressors aimed to prolong the service life of a wire, and organosilicon insulators. The latter has low weight - one organosilicon insulator replaces isolating chain of eight glass insulators that facilitates their installation at a support. Besides, such insulators are steadier against vibrations and blows, have high breakdown characteristics and are vandalism-proof.

Reconstruction works at the site “Vezhaika-Vozhskaya” are planned to be completed up to the end of April. By this time 136 wooden supports will be replaced by steel many-sided ones with the service life of more than 60 years. All this will allow to raise reliability and quality of electric power supplies in the settlements of Ust-Vymsky and Udorsky Districts of the Republic with the population of more than 40 thousand people. The investments into realization of the next stage of the project will exceed RUR 100 million.

“Vezhaika-Vozhskaya” site is the second stage of reconstruction of the line “Mikun-Edva” of more than 100 km in total length. The line was constructed in 1971 and now does not meet modern requirements of operation. Reconstruction of the line started in 2008.

This year, besides realization of the second stage, design and exploration works to reconstruct the last site of the 110 kV line “Vozhskaya-Edva” will be held. The reconstruction works are planned for 2011. The amount of Komienergo’s investments into implementation of the large-scale project to renew the whole line from 2007 to 2011 will be approximately RUR 300 million.
