Conference
This year the majority considered issues were related with global cruise shipping development themes. The speakers presented and analyzed changes in cruise shipping, forecasts and novelties in the fields of ship construction, infrastructure development and service quality improvement. Furthermore, it has already become a tradition to analyse issues on efficient inter - collaboration among representatives of  cruise business.

Cruises are becoming a sector of the global marine tourism. Evidently the development of cruises in geographical aspect still remains the most important tendency. Cruise operators are constantly searching for new regions therefore they are planning their routes to the seacoasts of Africa continent, the Near East and India region, places they called least. Cruise development perspectives are noticeable both in geographical and time aspects: cruises have started loosing more often their seasonal prevalence and are organized during the periods of certain events of ports and cultural, sport events and calendar holidays of a country. Targeted passenger groups are becoming more numerous: cruise operators are planning to organize specialised cruises for groups of young people suggesting entertainments that are interesting to this age group on board and excursions ashore.

With recovering of main cruise shipping line markets in the United States of America and Europe and increasing passenger flows cruise operators started raising service (cruise) prices that were extremely low in the period of economic crises. But the range of services provided on board is under constant development and operators suggest more and more amusing excursions and catching entertainments.

During this conference the appropriate preparedness of ports to receive larger liners and to render services to the rapidly growing passenger flows were on discussion. Experts on infrastructure projects presented the latest port terminal projects.

Following the submitted data approx. 400 cruise liners are cruising worldwide. Construction of new cruise ships is an important indicator in the development of cruise shipping. In 2009 14 cruise ships were built worldwide; in 2010 this number will reach even up to 27 ships ( preliminary data).

Regardless the drop by 4-5 percent in 2009 observed in international cruise shipping sector comparing with 2008, the Baltic Sea region could make boast of the increase by 5 percent reached in the previous year. The Baltic region with its broad diversity of history and heritage still remains attractive to an intellectual passenger and annual presentation of Klaipeda town at this exhibition ensures the dispersion of information on our region, direct relations with cruise business representatives and partners, form the image of Klaipeda as tourism attraction centre.
