OREANDA-NEWS. March 30, 2010. During the first year of Russia’s accession to the international motor third party liability insurance system, Green Card, the insurants of OJSC IC ROSNO had about 100 insured accidents in the countries included in this system.

The largest number of insured accidents has been registered in Germany, Poland, Belarus, Italy and Austria, primarily involving private insurants. This is partly explained by the fact that foreign travelers are represented much more by tourists, than by organizations performing international haulages.

Operating as agent of the Russian Bureau "Green Card" (member of the Russian Insurance Association), OJSC IC ROSNO settled over 100 insured accidents involving foreign holders of the Green Card policies in Russia. In the majority of cases, traffic accidents were caused by drivers from Belarus, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia and, somewhat less often, Poland and Finland.

In 2009, working to develop insurance in the Green Card system, IC ROSNO implemented a number of projects aimed to increase the quality of services. For example, in 2009, the company organized operation of the specialized Call-centre providing advice to the insurants who travelled abroad and got in traffic accidents there. Furthermore, ROSNO formed a well-developed correspondent network on the basis of the companies belonging in Allianz SE group. This appreciably simplified interaction between companies in terms of loss settlement.

"Russia’s accession to the international motor third party liability insurance system Green Card enables the Russians to move freely in their cars across 44 countries while not been required to purchase local insurance policy each time they cross the border. Unfortunately, the driving culture our compatriots show abroad leaves much to be desired. Nevertheless, the number of traffic accidents caused by foreigners in Russia is also on the increase", notes Mr. Dmitry Alexeev, head of the Motor Insurance Expertise and Loss Settlement Department of OJSC IC ROSNO.
