OREANDA-NEWS. March 31, 2010. This was declared by the Prime Minister on Tuesday at the opening of Summit of Information Technologies and Communications of Moldova ICT Summit 2010 in Chisinau, stressing that the government pays great attention to the introduction of e-government program aimed at de-bureaucratization of the governance process. The Prime Minister noted that de-bureaucratization of state institutions and improving their efficiency is one of the most important tasks, stressing that rapid development of ICT will significantly contribute to this.

Filat noted that ICT is an area of greatest interest to the government. "That's why we started a dialogue with the external development partners to gain access to finance and expertise for e-government implementation in Moldova,-" the premier said. According to Vladimir Filat, the Government is currently involved in developing and preparing the launch of the project jointly with the World Bank in order to create an enabling environment for e-transformation in Moldova through the development of the IT industry, infrastructure and human capital.

The Prime Minister also noted that Moldova proposes cooperation with the countries with rapid ICT development. Thus, the Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Agency of Informational Development of Singapore and the countries jointly develop a platform for long-term cooperation. The Prime Minister also said that within the frameworks of the World Bank program "Transforming Government" Moldova is the first country, which, starting next month, will be consulted by the experts from the USA, Singapore, Canada, UK, Estonia, New Zealand. The U.S. Ambassador in Moldova Asif J. Chaudhry, participating in the summit, said that until now it was believed that Moldova is an agrarian country, while the share of agriculture and IT industry is the same, each accounting for about 10%.

At the same time, the fact that youth is engaged in IT sector is a plus. In his turn, the general manager of Microsoft Romania Calin Tatomir said that on March 31, following the agreement with the Ministry of Education of Moldova, Moldova will be included in the project of Microsoft in the field of research and education, within which the company annually invests about USD 9.5 billion.
