In 2009 the total number of motor vehicle insurance contracts were entered into with Ingosstrakh, had reached 2,332,000, 8% increase on the last year’s figures. 1,824,000 contracts were entered into with individuals. During 2009 over 460,000 contracts for voluntary motor vehicle insurance had been executed, 17% more than in 2008. Ingosstrakh OJSIC is the leader in the hull insurance market: its market share has increased by 3.5% over the last year reaching 15.7%.

The number of compulsory motor third-party liability insurance contracts had increased by 6% during the year 2009 reaching 1.6 mln. The company’s share in the CMTPL insurance market is 6.9%.

The total amount of premium paid to Ingosstrakh OJSIC for motor vehicle insurance had reached 27.8 bln rubles of which 21.5 bln rubles were paid unser hull insurance  (6% increase compared to the same period of 2008), 5.9 bln rubles for CMTPL insurance (16% increase) and 0.4 bln rubles for voluntary motor third-party liability insurance and accident insurance (17% increase).

Premium collected from individuals for motor vehicle insurance had increased by 12% and exceeded the amount of 21.5 bln rubles, including 16.9 bln rubles under hull insurance.

The total amount of indemnity paid under motor vehicle insurance in 2009 was 18.6 bln rubles, 29% more than in 2008. 15.4 bln rubles were paid under hull insurance, 3.1 bln rubles were paid under CMTPL insurance. The average amount of monthly payments for motor vehicle insurance in 2009 had reaches 1.5 bln rubles.

In 2009 an overall number pf more than 540,000 losseshad been settled under motor vehicle insurance, including 429,000 insurance events under hull insurance and 112,000 insurance events under CMTPL insurance.

The largest indemnity payments under motor vehicle insurance were related to theft of premium-brand cars and to accidents due to which the vehicle could not be repaired. Major losses paid by Ingosstrakh under motor vehicle insurance include three events involving an Aston Martin DB9, a Maybach 57 and a Mercedes Benz S, the total indemnity for which had amounted to about 20 mln rubles.
