OREANDA-NEWS. April 05, 2010. Belarus’ foreign commodity trade deficit amounted to USD 469 million in January-February 2010, compared to a USD 1.129 billion deficit in January-February 2009, according to the National Statistics Committee.

Exports rose 32.3% in January-February 2010 year-on-year to USD 3.461 billion, and imports increased 4.9% to USD 3.93 billion.

Exports from Belarus included USD 1 589 billion worth of supplies to CIS states, up 44.8% on the year, including exports to Russia, which stood at USD 1.226 million, up 46.2 and to Kazakhstan at USD 51.2 million, up 68.1%.

Exports to non-CIS countries amounted to USD 1.871 billion as of March 1, 2010, up 23.2% on the year.

Belarusian imports from CIS countries rose 7.8% to USD 2.53 billion, including imports from Russia at USD 2.308 billion, up 7.1% on the year, and from Kazakhstan at USD 9.4 million, down 10.9%.

Imports from non-CIS countries went up 0.1% on the year to USD 1.4 billion.

The deficit of commodity trade with CIS countries came to USD 940.8 million, down 24.7% on the year in the period. The deficit of commodity trade with Russia fell 17.8% year-on-year in January-February 2010 to USD 1.082 million. In trade with Kazakhstan, Belarus showed a USD 41.8 million surplus, up 110%.

The surplus of foreign trade with countries outside the CIS reached USD 471.8 million in January-February 2010, compared to a USD 121.1 million surplus in January-February 2009.

The CIS accounted for 55.7% of Belarus’ trade turnover in January-February 2010, Russia accounted for 47.8%, while non-CIS foreign states are responsible for 44.3%.
